Model and make-up: The incredible Halohid *Halohid
Location scout: Crystal

Long exposure, with about a 3 second shutter speed. Yay five-dollar op-shop tops!

I'm in love with this picture. Go give Halohid some love, I don't think any other model could have pulled this off better!

that's so cool! i would have taken two shots, one of just the wall, then one with her there, then merged them in photoshop. but i'm a hack like that.

I like all colours, as long as they're not murky. Or fluro.

Thank you. Believe me, usually that's what I would have done, but who need photoshop when you have an amazing model who knows how to work long exposure like Halohid!

I've been playing a lot with long exposure lately so it was lucky that this shoot happened when it did. My brain is still in 'counting' mode and I've done a lot of trial and error in how to keep still enough.
I think I'm beginning to believe that the best way to learn a photographic technique is to shot self portraits so that you have to think about both sides of the camera at once.

When I said, "alright let's do some long exposure shots" and you went straight into counting I thought, there's someone who knows what she's doing! It made my job heaps easier, I didn't even have to direct anything, it was excellent!

I think self portraits are probably a valuable experience, but I've found in my opinion I hate them because I'm thinking about trying not to look like a dick (believe me photos of me mostly turn out shockingly) rather than other things. I'm never natural in front of a camera, I get tense and paranoid. But model feedback definitely helps I think, in general I get told I don't speak as much as other photographers but usually I'm thinking about the camera and I chip in when I would like them to take a certain direction, I think models are usually capable of running their own show!
