I'm looking for some models willing to do art nudes... I want emotional/intimate portraits, something fragile and beautiful.

I'm based in Melbourne, Australia. I'm female, I'm 20 (in 2 days) and not a sleazy person at all, you can ask anyone I've shot nudes with before, or anyone I've shot with before in general.

Leave a comment or send me a note if you're interested, images will be TF for online images and a couple of prints.

That is all :)

Please look at this for some amaaazing photos!

I've just faved half this lady's gallery! Go look at it, it is beyond amazing.

In other news, uni is over for this year! I am finally getting to do all the projects I've wanted, and I'm really happy doing all my little crafty bits. Feeling so productive.

Shooting with Caity tomorrow, stay tuned for some photos. Or add me on Facebook under Shauna Phoon Photography. That is all.

So I've discovered the link doesn't work. Search for 'Shauna Phoon' in Facebook instead and you will find my page. This is my photography page, not my personal page. I only add people I know (and like) to my personal page. Thanks!

Watch me! :)

After the bit of feedback, I think I'm probs going to go with my name for moving forward as a photography thing. It's too hard to remember clandestine-wishes and I have to get over my awkwardness of people saying my name. It's a lame excuse.

10 more days until I am free :) I got the pages of my book printed today, will be taking it down to get bound on weds and I am really excited. It looks all nice and pretty printed on slightly glossy 160gsm paper and can't wait to see it all finished. It's an entire semester's work for one subject and I can't wait until all my projects are finished and I can hand it in and relax.

I will be doing a subject during summer semester so I will be keeping busybusy this summer. I will probs be working 2 days a week, and I already am concocting some ideas for shoots. Also can't wait to make more stuff with Sweetly Numb, I adore making jewellery so it will be heaps of fun. I've never had that many plans for a summer before and I'm sure it's going to be fantastic.

Still can't find any courses for darkroom so I might have to abandon that plan. Maybe after I finish this degree I might want to do another in photography, or at least a diploma or something. Not because I need the qualification, but because I really want to learn more. We'll see, I might be digging a bigger hole of debt which might be a bad idea.

My lights came, but only one of them fires. The other one plugs in, and the modelling lamp comes on but when I press the test button it doesn't fire. When I connect everything up the other flash fires when I press the shutter, but this one just sits there mocking me. I've messaged the people that sold me the flash, but haven't gotten a reply (it's been about 2-3 days just coming out of the weekend), before I bought the flash they seem to have replied a lot quicker. I'll give it another couple of days and will message them again, I mean there is a 12 month warranty on the flashes, plus I haven't left any feedback. I doubt they are just going to ignore me, they're probably just busy. Fingers crossed.

I've decided I'm a bit too broke to afford two softboxes and two reflector umbrellas, so I'm going to attempt to build my own softboxes. I've seen a couple of them around online, and I know how they work basically so it will take effort but hopefully it works and I can save a few hundred bucks. I got a giant, giant reflective mat from the asian shop up at the shops for 6 bucks, that I'm going to cut up and use for the sides, and will get some cardboard to build the structure then pop some lining fabric from spotlight over the front. I reckon if I build a small model first I might even be able to make it fold flat if I get the pattern right, with lots of velcro. I will let you know how it goes, and am determined to keep a photo record of me building this which I will keep updated on facebook, so once again, watch me!!

(Instructions up top)

On other news my dog turned 3 last month, he is still as whiny and puppy like as ever, and I'm turning 20 this month. I've heard once you hit your 20s it goes hella fast, which I'm really hoping not. 20 I can deal with, 30 not so much. The last 5 or so years have seemed like a bit of a haze, a really shit haze, that I am getting out of and things look much brighter. I think this last year has probably been my most positive year ever and I'm hoping the next will be even better :)

Lastly, I would like to give major pimpage to the lovely :iconhalohid: and her just released book, "In Memory of Arthur Who Was Completely Ordinary". Please go and check out this talented lass and her book! >> [link]
It contains bits and pieces of her photography, writing and modelling, including a couple of pictures from yours truly that have her as the model. You can see a preview of her book and it all looks really lovely, I can't wait to own my own copy. If anyone is ordering and lives in Melbourne, are you interested in combining shipping? It's the same cost to ship one or two books, even three is only like a dollar more so yeah. Let me know :)

Help please?

Does anyone know of anywhere that does short courses over the summer in the area of basic darkroom techniques and such? I found one course that is 20 weeks but costs nearly 2 and a half grand, and I couldn't afford that.

I want to learn to work a bit more with film, I love shooting on it and not knowing what you'll get, plus everything looks magical, but I just tried reading a 'how to' on developing from the Ilford site and have decided my brain wasn't meant for such tasks. I'm a visual person and I learn a lot better watching people do things!

If anyone could point me in any direction it'd be great. I'll have a bit of time over the summer (probs working 2 days a week, and then another 2 days a week for half of it doing a summer subject at uni to reduce my load) but I would love to learn something and say I did something productive with my time.

Will hopefully be able to order lights this week, will still have to save for light stands and softboxes and reflector umbrellas and such but it's a little step :)

Can't wait for uni to be overrr already. I'm working on a painting right now, will maybe post pictures. Not sure anyone cares though, haha so maybe not. It's on facebook.

How we used to be

  • Listening to: The Butterfly Effect
Yay for lazy saturday afternoons listening to The Butterfly Effect and attempting to do work. I have done some stuff for Branding, business cards, letterheads, envelopes and the like. Now have to find some good pictures of makeup bottles I think. Branding is my favourite subject this semester. I love getting a hands on brief that I can be creative for and I think it's the first subject I've had where I've had that much freedom and it's been the best thing for my design portfolio, ever.

[link] if you want to have a peek.

So my subscription expired, it hasn't been too bad. Just some extra ads and the like, but I'm thinking of getting a website anyway. I want to make some business cards, but I want to put a website onto my business cards, and I need a site first. I'm learning how to build a website at uni next year, so I can do that then but for now I'm thinking of buying a domain first, using it with my dA portfolio and then when I build a site I can change it over.

(Just realised I can't use a different domain name unless I am subscribed. Drat.)

Which makes me deliberate over which domain to use. What do you guys reckon?

www. clandestinewishes.com or
www. clandestinewishesphotography.com or
www. shaunaphoonphotography.com or
www. shaunaphoon.com

Everyone has issues spelling and pronouncing clandestine. I didn't think it was a particularly hard word, but there we go. I want something that is easy to remember.

Anyone know of sites that sell websites with basic templates for a good price? I saw one I really wanted, it was 100 usd which wasn't too bad but you had to pay an extra 100 to not host with them, and their hosting fees are rather exorbitant, as are their domain fees.

3 weeks to the end of semester, 4 weeks till most things are due. So much work, so little time. I have to print and bind a book which is my biggest worry. I hate working with printers (apart from printing photos which is so so easy compared to printing for publication) because something always goes horrifically wrong, and can be so expensive. I'm expecting my A3 book to cost between 100 and 200 bucks.

Creatively I've been a bit blah at the moment, want to do more bits and pieces but I just don't have the time. When the summer comes hopefully I will be better and will get to shoot lots. After I get paid this coming week I should be able to order some lights, I won't be able to do lightstands and softboxes and umbrellas etc for a few more weeks but the idea of having just lights excite me :)

Also, am now going to Soundwave '10 with ~kimtheslackerbitch! Who else is going? I only really badly want to see one band play (AFI) but I don't mind Placebo and such either, will have to check out some of the other bands I've heard aren't too bad. Oh, and Faith no more too. I don't really like sweaty moshes all that much because I am 5"2 and almost always get flattened, and I'm the sort of person that likes her personal space a LOT. Crowded places make me uneasy, but if there's good music I can usually switch my brain to 'tripping balls' mode and deal. It's going to be in February, so hot as, so I can't keep valuables in my boots... still deciding what to do with that. Any tips?
